Vancouver hasn’t put together an eight-game winning streak since a 10-game run from Nov. 9-30, 2002.
Sedin, tied with his brother Henrik Sedin with a team-high 50 points, will likely play a role in getting closer to that mark. He’s netted six goals and set up six others over the last eight games, although he was held without a point in a 3-2 win over Edmonton (13-19-7) on Dec. 26.
Daniel Sedin still has 27 goals in 57 games against the Oilers, his highest total against any opponent.
Henrik Sedin has also excelled against his Northwest Division rivals, collecting 54 points in 60 meetings — his most against any foe. The center has three goals and 10 assists in his last eight games versus Edmonton with seven of those matchups ending in Vancouver victories, including all three this season.
Roberto Luongo will likely be back in net after making 43 saves Wednesday, losing the shutout with 10.8 seconds remaining. He’s 12-1-1 with a 1.84 goals-against average and a shutout over his last 14 games.
